Anyone interested? I've got an idea and might be able to put some time into a good one-

need a date now that schedules are pretty much set

Anybody interested in a all-night rally or rally-motel-back rally?

Anybody want to race to Gulf Shores and back? j/k

Years ago I used to do road rallys in WI and AR, They were always fun. As long as you don't get off into all that detailed TSD mania and just make it a fun clue-driven route with non-hateful tricks. Night time would be interesting but real hard. Most of the ones I remember started off at about noon and ended at a bar/grill at dinner time. Perhaps a checkpoint along the way. That way those getting REAL lost can open the panic-pack and get to the checkpoint to rejoin the rally without blowing off the whole rest of the run. If you blow the second half, well then meet at the endpoint in panic pack #2. Points apply. I'm not sure just how these are done all over the country but there is probably some variation regionally. We have lots of good country roads here with some great names. (Ex: Butter AND Egg Rd...)

Count me in. Sounds like a main road rule learning, easy TSD with simple traps, tulip arrows and stick maps.

Perhaps a Friday night classroom session of a couple of hours then a relaxed TSD on Saturday ending with pizza and brews at Big Ed's

How about a refresher on what a rally is at one of the TAC meetings?

I have to admit that I'm curious why Y/H wants to sanction the event under TVR instead of under the TAC banner. It would seem more difficult and complicated under SCCA rules, but at this stage can beggers be choosers? Maybe the TAC rally organization has fallen by the wayside so far that it's impractical?

TAC Rally chair is a vacant position. If someone wants the job, it should not be hard to get.

Our last TSD rally was during our 50th Anniversary weekend.

TVR is celebrating their 50th, this year. Might be a good tie-in.

FWIW, I remember a discussion some time ago that went something along the lines of..... "TAC's insurance carrier will not cover a road rally any more.." I may be in error, if so, Sorry in advance.
I know we can get coverage through SCCA.

On public roads, in a liscensed vehicle (mandatory insurance), not supposed to be speeding and should be obeying all traffic laws, so what's the insurance for? I never remember any other clubs even concerned about it. It's just a Sunday drive in the country. If you have an incident there is no reason to bring up the fact that you are participating in a club event, just that you or they didn't yeild. It's not important or germane to the problem. If you bring it up, you are not too bright. Well, that and we will disavow any knowlegde of your actvities and the leather winged demon of the night may come and get you.

There was about 5 pages of stuff about rally in the all the insurance stuff I just read for our yearly renewal, so I'm sure it's possible but I have no idea what to do for one

Leon, no offense, but a properly setup and staged "non-speed rally" should include notification of the local authorities at some level. And, unfortunately, there aren't any guarantees that all traffic laws at some point in the event will be followed to the letter. Granted, MOST rally regulations, general and route instructions usually DO include a statement that disqualifies anyone that gets ticketed, but...

The insurance is there to protect the club from lawsuit. Hopefully, as an organization, we never have to use it. As far as your own insurance? While I would hope that an event like a legal TSD would still be covered by regular auto insurance I've been hearing that several vendors are watching like hawks for anything that falls under a definition of "competion" by their rules. I feel that makes it even more necessary for either club to be well insured.
