| Call it what you like,
- HSV vs. BHM
Appollo vs. Vulcan TVR SCCA/TAC vs. AL SCCA
This is an autocross competition as a team sport. Make plans to not only run on Sept. 6th at Milton Frank but the 7th at the Birmingham Race Course off I-459. Running one event does not score points.
Edit: After re-reading the previous paragraph I believe I need this clarification. You can run Saturday and not Sunday. There is no requirement what so ever that you HAVE to run both. However, to score points for N. Alabama and show up ALSCCA we need as many people as possible to also run in Birmingham the next day. This is a friendly competition that we can win.
More details will follow but in the meantime there are a couple of threads running on the ALSCCA Forum for your reading enjoyment.

| Unfortunately I will not be able to make it to the Birmingham portion, but I would have loved to go and think that this is all a great idea. I will be renting a car for the remaining events, so that I can continue instructing the Novice Program and give ride-a-longs. The Alfa will most likely be on jack stands the rest of the season.

| Registration is up in a separate thread.
Here is what I propose for Rules:
1. Two day event. Winning Region will be the one with the highest points total from the two days added together.
2. Points. Each day, the top 15 drivers in the RAW and PAX results will score points. 15 for 1st, 14 for 2nd, 13 for 3rd,.....etc.
3. Drivers from the visiting region each day will score a minimum of one point in RAW and PAX regardless of finish rank. Home region drivers will not have a guaranteed minimum.
4. The points accmulated by drivers from each region will be added together to form the total for the day.
Discussion:
I read through the thread on the Alabamba forum and there were a lot of good points made. Scoring by either PAX or RAW alone would leave some drivers out of the mix from a competion standpoint. Scoring by classes would leave too much room for abuse by class jumpers and would make the scores lopsided for the home region each day. In addition, our classes do not match exactly between the 2 regions. I don't really want to limit the competion to only those who run both days because it would severly limit participation and this way people can help their region by running either day and particulary by coming down and running at the other regions event. Plus requiring two day participation would leave us with no first day results because we wouldn't know who was participating the second day until the start of that event.
So the rules reward success in both PAX and RAW times and giving the visiting region drivers a minimum of 2 points (1 for RAW and 1 for PAX) will keep the scoring closer each day and provide and incentive for traveling regardless how good you are.
This will also be a very simple scoring system that I can pull together results for quickly so we aren't waiting around to see who the winner is.
